Great Plains installs three new pieces of Daewoo CNC Equipment

Great Plains, a division of Great Plains Manufacturing, Salina, Kansas, has recently installed three pieces of Daewoo CNC equipment.

Great Plains is one of the largest privately held agricultural equipment manufacturers in the United States. It manufactures agricultural seed planting equipment, tillage equipment, and crop sprayers.

The new equipment, purchased through PSS of Wichita, includes: a Daewoo DVC320 3-axis vertical machining center (VMQ with a 14-tool-changer; a Daewoo Lynx 220C CNC lathe with an LNS barfeeder and a Daewoo DHC400 horizontal machining center (HMC) with a 40-tool changer.

The new HMC is the company’s first foray into horizontal machining.

The new equipment was needed to increase Great Plains’ machining capacity and allow for more in-house production. The division’s machining area now has 16 pieces of CNC equipment.

“We had been pleased with the performance of our other Daewoo lathes, so we felt comfortable purchasing more,” stated Great Plains’ Vance Stinnett, manufacturing engineering manager. “Dennis Daugherty and the crew at PSS do a good job with service, and Daewoo really stands behind their products.”
