CNC Lathe Gang Tool Design Delivering Big Results

The GT-XPRESS cnc lathe offers the small parts turning market a new and innovative approach to performance and value. The signature feature of the GT-XPRESS cnc lathe is its thirty-four inch cube, polymer base. With superior rigidity and unsurpassed stability, polymer concrete castings have a proven track record of improved surface finish and extended tool life when compared to cast iron or meehanite castings. Manufacturers of 'super precision' turning and milling centers, grinders, and coordinate measuring systems have long touted the advantages of polymer castings. With the GT-XPRESS, CMS introduces this cutting edge technology in an economically priced machine tool. The GT-XPRESS cnc lathe is ideal for machining parts in the l" range. From complete automated systems, to secondary operations, GT-XPRESS delivers the best profitability per square foot of any machine available on the market today. The bottom line is maximum value realized on minimum investment.

Superior Spindle Performance

The GT-XPRESS cnc lathe comes with a 6,000-rpm, (27mm) spindle manufactured by Gros-ite Industries. Constructed with five (ABEC 7/9) bearings, these spindle options support speeds up to 6,000 rpm. The Gros-ite spindles come equipped with Impro Air Miser sealing systems. This purge-type seal provides longer spindle life and protects the unit against the harshest of environments. Additionally, the Gros-ite spindles come standard with MicroCentric rotary union type collet closers. The rotary union design has proven to function more reliably for an extended period of time when compared to conventional collet closers. These high performance models offer unsurpassed thermal stability, efficient heat dissipation and excellent noise suppression.

Spindle Positioning (optional)

Many parts require milling or drilling operations after being turned on a cnc lathe. Flats, key ways, or cross holes are just a few of the operations that may be needed to complete a part. Parts are often moved to a secondary machine, at considerable loss of time and money, to complete these operations. The GT-XPRESS cnc lathe, with the indexing feature option, can perform many turning, milling, and cross-drilling operations all on one machine! Turning is done in the conventional method, while milling and drilling are performed by converting the spindle into a rotary or positioning axis. Up to 4 live tools may be employed on the GT-XPRESS.
