In a MACH exhibition launch of eight machine tools in the UK a feature is machine tool guarding with up to 40% improved visibility of the machining area
Eight of the 10 machines on the DMG (UK) stand at MACH 2008 will be new to the UK. In addition, the latest high speed linear drive DMU 50 eVo linear machining centre is featured on the Open Mind stand 5556 for CAD/CAM to simultaneous 5-axis machining demonstrations using hyperMILL software. * Improved machining area visibility - DMG has produced new levels of machine tool guarding with up to 40% improved visibility of the machining area through larger scratch resistant, shatterproof windows.
Its flush surfaces in reinforced plastics complement the machine set off by DMG's ERGOline scratch resistant brushed chrome and the ultra-modern LIGHTline - a distinctive operational status indicator that is visible across the entire upper ridge of the machine.
* CNC developments - the DMG ERGOline control has a 19in screen, which is flat and easy to clean.
It gives, at a glance, all the information required with a continuously adjustable keyboard angle between 15 and 70 deg.
An added feature is DMG SOFTkeys enabling hot key customisation of frequently used operational sequences or screen selections.
In order to allow individual levels of authorisation of the operator, DMG's SMARTkey with transponder enables allocation of operational data, mode selector and state-of-the-art security against unauthorised use.
DMG (UK) told manufacturingtalk.com that such is the level of ergonomics and operator consideration in the machine design concept that an integrated, adjustable, 'perch' seat is available as an option that is fitted to the control console.
* Machining centres under power - machining centres under power on the DMG (UK) stand include the following.
* The DMU 40 monoBLOCK standard 5-axis vertical machining centre (VMC) - has up to 200% greater dynamics in the rotary axis.
* The DMC 60 U duoBLOCK 5-axis, twin pallet, VMC.
* The DMC 55H duoBLOCK - a compact horizontal spindle machine.
* The HSC 55V Linear, an 80m/min rapid traverse VMC.
* The low cost DMC 635V eco VMC and the Ultrasonic 20 linear that provides a combined solution to hard metal machining by combining hard milling and ultrasonic machining in a single cycle.
This machine is able to provide 4- or 5-axis positioning and has linear drives in the main three axes.
* Turning - turning machines under power include the fifth generation CTX lathe, giving 25% performance improvement.
Also on show will be the following.
* The CTX beta 1250 TC with subspindle, a turning-milling spindle and toolchange.
* The MSL 42-6 multislide lathe, able to provide simultaneous cutting.
* The competitively priced NEF 400 entry level lathe.
* TCTX 310 eco with counter spindle and Y-axis.
All turning machines will all be under power.
* DMG (UK) at MACH 2008, NEC, Birmingham, UK, April 21-25, Hall 5, Stand 5228.
