XYZ Machine Tools, distributor of CNC lathes, milling machines and machining centres won in excess of GBP 250,000 during a recent 'Open House' exhibition in the UK

XYZ Machine Tools reported that its mid-February 'Open House' brought in orders totalling more than GBP 250,000. Orders included four for the latest XYZ Compact Turn 52 CNC turning centre. This 15kW/5000 rev/min machine is the smallest model in the XYZ range of turning centres. It occupies just 1700mm (W) by 1450mm (D) of floor space.

It ican turn components of up to 220mm diameter to a maximum turned length of 280mm.

Managing director of XYZ Machine Tools, Nigel Atherton, said that the two-day event, held at the company's Waltham Abbey, London, showroom, was attended by 30 companies.

It produced several further enquiries likely to result in firm orders.

'It confirms that investment is still being given a high priority and this is very reassuring ahead of MACH 2008,' he said.

'We will have 17 machines on our MACH stand, including the GBP 26,000 Compact Turn 52, and the emphasis, as always, will be on productive and affordable technology'.

Equipped as standard with a 155mm diameter three-jaw power chuck, the Compact Turn 52 has a 52mm bar capacity (61mm spindle bore) and a 12-station VDI tool turret holding turning tools with a maximum shank size of 20mm by 20mm.

The VDI turret, which can hold boring bars up to 32mm diameter, enables maximum use to be made of the tool management system within the Siemens 810D ShopTurn conversational control, allowing for the quick change-over of tooling between jobs.
