[Intermold] Amada Wasino Exhibits 5-axis Processing Machine w/ Machining Function
Amada Wasino Co Ltd, whose headquarters are in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, launched the sale of a 5-axis processing machine "WASINO Mi8," which is used for small complex-shaped parts. The company exhibited it at Intermold 2008 (Die & Mold Manufacturing Technology Exhibition), which opened at Intex Osaka in Japan April 17, 2008.
The machine, based on a high-precision CNC lathe machine, is equipped with an automatic tool changer (ATC) and a main shaft for rotary tools.
The size of standard workpieces is φ100(〉70) × 70mm. As machining functions, the WASINO Mi8 has a built-in main shaft whose rotation speed is 8,000 rpm and output is 2.2kw (continuous), and five turret-type fixed-blade holders.
The tool spindle is designed for rotary tools. Equipped with an HSK E32 holder, its cutting speed is as fast as 20,000rpm (the output of the main shaft is 1.5kw (continuous)). The ATC has 20 tools.
The external size of the turret built in the tool spindle is 210mm. The size of the main body is 1,760(h) × 1,560(w) × 2,000mm(l). The machine can be automated with a multi-jointed robot that carries works and jigs, and a charge-coupled device camera that automatically checks works. The price is ¥32 million (only the main body, US$312,622, price may vary depending on country).
Amada Wasino became a wholly owned subsidiary of Amada Co Ltd April1, 2008, and changed the name from Tecno Wasino Co Ltd. And the company, as a member of Amada Group, exhibited the WASINO Mi8 in the same booth as other group companies.
The processing machine was exhibited at Mechatronics Technology Japan 2007, which took place at the Nagoya Port Messe in October 2007. Amada Wasino drastically changed the design of the machine to sell it in Europe and the US. Specifically, the company changed the color and the curved surface shape of the upper front of the machine.
