IMTMA: Improve Productivity with New Gen Cutting Tools & Holding Systems

Delhi: Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association (IMTMA) organised a one day “Symposium on New Generation Cutting Tools & Holding Systems for Productivity Improvement” on the 5th in New Delhi.

Industry experts and leading cutting tool and related equipment manufacturers like WALTER TOOLS, L&T ISCAR, MAPAL INDIA, SCHUNK INDIA, OERLIKON BALZERS COATING and IMTMA TECHNOLOGY DIVISION, BANGALORE made presentations at this symposium.

The participants were familiarised with latest advances in the field of cutting tool technology, while focussing on effective usage of cutting tools for higher productivity.

The symposium acted as a forum for one-to-one interactions with cutting tool manufacturers and users, to evaluate cost effectiveness in manufacturing. The participants discussed technology related issues and specific problems with expert faculty present.

Advancements in Cutting tool technology is revolutionalising the world of metal cutting. Cutting tools which are an integral part of metal working machinery forms a crucial paramter in quality and productivity improvements in machining operations.

Cutting tools have evolved over the years to fulfil the needs of customers and there is a continuous research going on in the field of new cutting tool materials, coatings, chip breaker geometries, insert geometries etc.

With the application of CNC technology in mass production process, usage of efficient cutting tools assumes paramount importance in facilitating an integrally induced increase in productivity at lower production costs.

"We expect interactions at this symposium will go a long way in benefitting the users in evaluating cost effectiveness as well as relative productivity increase of various solutions," said Mr V.Anbu, Executive Director, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association.

Participants included managers, Senior Technical personnel, R & D specialists, Engineers and Middle Management personnel involved in Production, Design & Development, Process Planning, Materials, methods, Tooling, Quality Assurance and other related areas from Automobile & auto ancilliaries, Machine tool, Tool room, CNC Shops, Defence & Railway establishments, General Engg. And other metal cutting industries.
