UK machine tool distributor Mills Manufacturing Technology sold 18 Doosan machine tools from its MACH 2008 stand, worth in ex cess of GBP 2 million.

The company said that its first quarter 2008 sales performance - including the MACH show - was above target at GBP 11 million - equating to 105 new machines sold.

Managing director at Mills, Mike Jenkins, said: "We have had a great MACH Show.

The phenomenal interest shown amongst precision manufacturers for the latest Doosan machine tool technology meant that we were rushed off our feet and, over the five days, we registered well over 1600 visitors on our stand".

He added: "In addition to the 18 machines sold at the Show over 300 serious sales enquiries were also taken, and, in the first few days after MACH, a significant number of these have already been followed up resulting in a further five machines being sold".

Jenkins continued: "Of the 18 machines sold - 13 were from our lathe/turning centre range, and five were from our milling machining centre range (which included two horizontal machining centre sales).

He explained: "The fact that 11 of these machine tool orders came from companies that were completely new to us is particularly pleasing, and demonstrates the pulling power and attractiveness of the Mills:Doosan offering".

In 2007 Mills sales performance exceeded GBP 35 million for the first time with some 335 machine tools delivered.

For 2008 the company's strong sales performance in Q1 and MACH 08 mean that Mills is already well on track to achieve (if not surpass) its stretch targets set for 2008.
