Sheet metal CAD/CAM/ERP runs in multi-processors
Lantek has revised the architecture of its Lantek Expert II and Lantek Expert III sheet metal CAD/CAM/ERP software to run 30-40% faster in dual-core or quad-core processor computers.
Provider of integrated CAD/CAM and ERP for sheet metal working, Lantek, has completely revised the architecture of its Lantek Expert II and Lantek Expert III systems Lantek has optimised and adapted its software packages to take advantage of computers with dual-core or quad-core processors to increase processing speeds by 30% to 40%
Lantek's research and development department has re-engineered the software to take advantage of the latest generation of computers, with a particular focus on tasks which require intensive processing, such as part nesting.
The new architecture provides further advantages by optimising and reducing work preparation times which, combined with the faster nesting and machining, generates significant savings.
Overall, said Lantek to manufacturingtalk, the re-engineered software will do the following.
* Improve quality and competitiveness.
* Cut response times.
* Reduce administrative costs, energy consumption and material usage.
These benefits will enable users to provide a better and more cost effective service to their customers.
Development manager at Lantek, Asier Ortiz, said: "The re-engineering of the Lantek Expert II and Expert III architecture has been an important challenge, as we can now offer a totally innovative product to the sheet metal sector.
Once again, users of our system will benefit from the commitment of Lantek to research and development, an area where we allocate between 15 and 20% of our annual turnover".
Ortiz added: "The new architecture has enabled us to increase productivity and speed by at least 30% in processes such as machining and nesting.
In the medium term, all processes will be optimised but, as we deploy the technology further, the enhanced performance will spread to all functions within the software,".
Lantek said that the new development offers more flexibility and has been designed to give total compatibility of operation with third-party hardware and software, and easy integration with all of Lantek's products.
To achieve this required considerable research by a dedicated section of Lantek's development team, which carried out extensive testing to ensure the high quality and reliable and correct functioning of the new software.
