CIM Solutions is distributing computer aided manufacture/computer aided design (CAM/CAD) software for optimising metal work in Australia.
The Sescoi WorkNC G3 software with the NCspeed module can automatically generate optimised roughing and finishing toolpaths for 2-axis through to 5-axis machining applications.
According to the company, the integrated module produces additional cycle time reductions of up to 20%.
The software distributor claims the software is unlike other CNC feed-rate optimisers which look at the programmed points of the CNC file and search for direction changes. NCspeed uses a dynamically- and continuously-updated computer-generated stock model.
The module can calculate the load and forces generated on the cutting tool, and adjust the feed-rates up and down depending on the cutter load. This is said to keep the tool loads as constant as possible, achieving optimum cutting conditions across the whole job to improve accuracy and finish quality.
According to the company, the performance of small diameter and long cutters will benefit from the optimisation. Cutter deflection can be minimised, tool life increased, excessive vibration and chatter eliminated and cutter breakage avoided.
