CCW Cabinet Works has attributed much of its growth to a Planit business software which it says has allowed it to systematise its workplace procedures.
The company employs 50 people, and fits out kitchens, retail centres, hospitals, hotels and resorts within a large geographical area.
As a typical cabinetry business, every job was different and had to be customised. According to the founder Peter Duff, he had problems finding a program which could handle the tasks required of it.
Originally, the business used a DOS-based system adapted from a builders’ estimating package, but this solution was inflexible and hard to use.
It eventually implemented Planit’s Manager. During the early stages of the program’s development, the business was the only user and had major input into the final form of the software.
Manager is now the core of CCW Cabinet Works. Duff says it provides transparency and integrates all the processes of the business together.
The software is also integrated with the company’s CAD and CNC programs, and is said to be easy to use.
Manager is an integrated business management tool and control system  designed for manufacturers of all sizes. It monitors the progress of jobs and work orders by material, consumption, labour tasks and times.
