Cabinet-maker chooses a solid manufacturing plan

AFTER changing over from a retailer to a manufacturer, Gosford-based Artform Kitchens has implemented Planit’s woodworking software to kick start its new production operations.

The client chose the Solid Manufacturing software to help design cabinets. The program produces three-dimensional drawings and is linked to a Multicam routing and boring machine.

The design drawings can be communicated through email or fax to a customer or viewed on-screen for confirmation.

The company says the software is simple to use, accurate and minimises materials wastage. It ensures all cut components fit together, automatically nests pieces and eliminates manual error.

The program is used by three staff members who were trained by a technician from Planit over five days during the commissioning phase. Further training has been booked at the software developer’s offices for when the manufacturer expands its product range. Annual training and an online help-line are also available.

The software is a screen-to-machine system which can be integrated with CNC equipment to confirm all parts and operations before sending data to the factory.

According to the developer, an unlimited amount of set-ups, settings, style changes can be created with a simple wizard. An operator can customise cabinet sizes, shape, colours, textures or any other parameters to suit the customer's needs.

Interior parts, like shelves and trays, doors, guides can also be configured in a range of three-dimensional views. Lighting and reflections can be added to the previews to make it more authentic.
