Ellison Technologies acquires J & H Machine Tools.

Ellison Technologies says it has purchased J & H Machine Tools of Charlotte, NC, expanding its presence into nine Southeastern states and boosting its coverage to three-fourths of North America.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Strategic issues and timing drove the alliance, said founder and chairman Jim Ellison in a news release. The companies have been closely linked for years. Both sell Mori Seiki's machining centers and CNC lathes as their flagship line and J & H has long partnered with Ellison Robotics for expertise integrating industrial robotic systems.

Under the new structure, J & H becomes a separate division of Ellison Technologies, with Bob Johnson as President, reporting to Ellison CEO Tim Kilty.

“J & H retains its name and autonomy and will stay focused on current markets, customers, employees and the interests of the builders it represents, which really do not conflict with Ellison's,” Ellison said.

J & H's 65 employees join Ellison's for a new total of 550-plus corporate wide.

Ellison Technologies is based in Santa Fe Springs, California. In Ohio, it has offices in West Chester and Brecksville. In Indiana, the company has an office in Fishers.
