RONSON Gears will be commissioning three new pieces of metal working machinery to help with gear manufacturing.
According to the company, it has purchased a Doosan VT 900 turning centre, a Koepfer KFS250S CNC hob sharpener, and a Fellows CNC vertical gear-shaping system.
The VT 900 turning centre has already arrived at the factory, and will increase the company’s turning capacity from 450mm diameter to 900mm, improving turning times and doubling capacity.
The Koepfer CNC hob sharpener is expected to arrive in February 2009. It has grinding capacity for hobs of 254mm in diameter and 305mm in length. It will allow for more accurately sharpened hobs for better output and extended hob life. The machine will also sharpen various cutting tools and cutters.
The Fellows CNC vertical gear-shaping machine can gear cut internal gears up to 200mm face width and 650mm inside diameter. It has hydromachanical stroking system, a CNC system designed for gear processing and adaptive controls for optimising machining functions. It is expected to increase productivity by 100% and tool life by 250%.
