Street Crane Company Ltd is creating 20 jobs and investing £750,000 to expand production at its factory in Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire, by 30 per cent.

The company said the changes would add 30 per cent to the factory area, improving workflow and despatch facilities and creating a new reception area for steel plate.

Machine shops and the hoist works have also been improved and additional design offices have been provided for the development team.

The company said it had leased additional warehouse space to relocate its parts storage and some CNC machines and added that the next phase involves the transfer of hoist production to a new dedicated facility and new hoist test facilities.

Street Crane said the new jobs would include design engineers to support the intensive hoist development programme. It said it had a “strong medium-term order book” and had launched new hoist products and was embarking on a major new product development programme.

Managing director Andrew Pimblett said: “Lean production has been a way of life at Street Crane for many years. From a constrained site we have been able to produce up to 400 cranes per year and over 2000 hoists.”
