Affordable quality from the Czech Republic
The Czech Republic is emerging as a major source of quality and affordable products for the UK engineering industries. A total of six Czech companies are exhibiting at Subcon – five exhibiting independently and one exhibiting on the CzechTrade stand.
Czech engineering products are already used extensively in many of European demanding markets and at Subcon CzechTrade –the government trade promotion agency of the Czech Republic presents the following companies.
Kdynium is a joint-stock company specialising in investment casting – a process that gives high surface quality and dimensional accuracy. Kdynium can cast parts from just a few grams up to around 15 kg and is accredited to ISO 9001:2000 and ISO/TS 16949:2002 standards, including material certificates.
Fines offers three types of precision casting. These include pressure and gravity die casting of aluminium alloys and investment casting in aluminium, copper and steel alloys with a maximum size of 900 by 900 by 900mm. Fines also manufacturers injection moulds and press dies for plastic mouldings, pressure and gravity dies for aluminium and zinc parts as well as fixtures, jigs and parts produced by 5-axis machining. The company has been certified to ISO 9001:2000 and AS EN 9100 1997.
NTS Prometal Machining offers CNC milling, turning, sheet-metal work and finishing, including powder-coating and assemblies according to customers’ design and drawings. Its prime market is in high variety, low volume parts where it offers very competitive costs and lead times.
Kornet can offer a complete service that ranges from sourcing materials, though to castings, moulds, tools and fixtures and precision CNC parts. It can also offer formed components, including CNC roll bending. Finally it can offer the complete assembly of components, including testing to the customer’s specification. The company is accredited to ISO 9001:2000 and uses kanban and lean manufacturing techniques in its production.
Elmet’s activities cover electronics, mechanical parts and medical equipment. In the field of electronics its main activities are mounting boards, assembly, production of multimedia devices, power amplifiers, voltage supplies and information panels. In the metalworking area it offers a sheet metalworking service using CNC forming machines, laser profiling and punch presses. If the medical field its activities include the development of high frequency pulmonary ventilators and products for laboratory purposes.
The Unitherm foundry offers sand and metal mould casting (gravitational and low pressure) as well as a number of ancillary operations such as heat treatment, machining, sub-assembly and surface treatments. Unitherm can also prepare drawings and produce moulds for customers for customers’ components. The company has certificated quality management to EN ISO 9001:2001 and an environmental management system accredited to EN ISO 14001:2005.
Subcon 2009 takes place at the NEC Birmingham from 9 to 11 June.and will give buyers the chance to source all types of subcontract manufacturing services from the UK’s biggest showcase of national and international suppliers.
Manufacturing services on offer cover everything from machined parts, electronic assemblies, castings, plastic mouldings and metal fabrications, through to full manufacturing services, design and build, and rapid prototyping.
