A Preston-based machine tools expert has acquired new premises to expand on its working space and allow for further investment in other CNC machinery, it has been revealed.

Engineering Capacity reported on the fortunes of Autoy, a subcontractor which continues to grow despite the current economic climate, with the firm now investing in a large five-axis turning machine.

The new system will be able to handle bigger materials, working up to 920mm diameter and 3m in length.

Commenting on the investment, Alex Catterall of Autoy said: "We have a very wide customer base and have not suffered from the effects of the credit crunch. We have continued to do really well and our current limitations on space are holding us back.

"With the new premises we will be able to invest in more machines and take up the opportunities open to us."

Autoy was established in 1043 and is part of the Northwest Aerospace Alliance, supplying major contracts to the flight industry.
