HEADLAND says its test of the Ocean Avenger CNC Beam Drill Line has exceeded its expectations.
Headland tested the Penetrator Cobalt drill, expecting to resharpen the drill before it had completed drilling 500 holes.
However, the Penetrator Cobalt drilled over 500 holes without resharpening, and still continued drilling through the web in around 5.5 to 6 seconds, the same speed at which it was drilling the first hole.
According to Headland, the test shows the Penetrator Cobalt can drill over 50,000 holes per drill bit, assuming 100 resharpening.
The test was done on the Ocean Avenger CNC Beam Drill Line, which headland says drilled 450 holes in one hour. These 450 holes would have taken well over 35 man hours to do manually using a tape, framing square, chalk and centre punch and a mag drill.
