DMG Australia says its DMU 50 and DMU 50 EVO universal milling machines are being used by Stoneglass Industries to machine titanium used in dental implant systems.
Stoneglass Industries uses four of DMG Australia’s Deckel Maho manufactured DMU machines in Australia, and five in America.
According to Stoneglass Industries, the sales support provided by DMG Australia was instrumental to its choice. After a few years of research and development, Stoneglass Industries started milling titanium in Australia in 2008.
Stoneglass Industries also works with Zirconia, milling that material with three DMU 50 universal 2+3 axis milling machines that feature a 16 tool capability and a spindle speed of 10,000 rpm.
For titanium, Stoneglass Industries uses the simultaneous 5 axis DMU 50 EVO Linear milling machine as it has the ability to reach critical areas in undercut zones, handles up to 30 tools, has a coolant capability and a 24,000 rpm spindle speed.
According to Stoneglass Industries, the DMG Australia milling machines allows its service to turn around cosmetic dentistry items overnight, trouncing the competition. The company claims that each of its $200,000 machines is capable of earning over $1200 per hour.
DMG Australia says the Deckel Maho universal milling machines include digital drives on all axes as well as the main spindle, a rapid traverse of up to 24m per minute, acceleration speed up to 5m/s/s and a milling spindle with up to 14,000 rpm.
The DMU range of milling machines also include options such as manual or driven swivel rotary table with hydraulic table clamping device. Control is via DMG ERGOline Control, a 19 inch screen and 3D software.
