LMT adds to CNC tooling range
A precision engineering firm has announced that it has expanded one of its leading lines of tooling for CNC machining.
LMT has revealed that its Steeltec range of turning machine inserts, which have been developed by the company's Boehlerit division, have expanded upon the application-specific capabilities of its Nanolock abrasion and heat-resistant coating.
It explained that the new geometries provide good options: RP has a chip channel for "arduous roughing cycles", as well as MP which incorporates a stabilisation chamfer and an improved heat dissipation surface for more universal applications.
The inserts, which are available through LMT in Coventry, "incorporate the world's first nanocrystaline coating development Nanolock that combines the abrasion resistant properties of titanium carbonitride with the heat-resistance of aluminium oxide that creates a 'thermal shield'."
LMT - the Leitz Metalworking Technology Group - has six production locations around the world, with Boehlerit being the sole Autrian workshop, paired with Fette, Kieninger and Bilz in Germany as well as Belin in France and Onsrud in the US.
Boehlerit currently specialises in cutting materials for metal, composites, plastics and wood.
