Unicut Precision has announced the appointment of a new technical sales director in order to improve its standing in the modern CNC machining market, it has been reported.

Engineering Capacity reported that Stuart Lawson will step into the front line of customer support to make the British offering better at a time when more domestic companies are looking within the UK for the best deal, particularly in light of market conditions and the exchange rate.

Joint managing director of Unicut Charles Kenny told the resource that Mr Lawson was hired due to his "extensive knowledge" on sliding head vertical machining centres and CNC lathes.

He continued: "With his track record he is able to communicate at all levels within a customer from the shopfloor, buying/procurement to senior management and directors."

"His experience involving technical and commercial issues as well as presentation skills will prove invaluable to both us and the customer."

As part of its expansion to its facility in Welwyn Garden City, Unicut established a clean room area within the shopfloor to reduce the chance of contamination of components.
