NWDA provides aerospace firm with grant

An organisation in the north-west of England has been given a £100,000 boost by a government group in order for it to expand on its equipment, such as CNC lathes and milling machines.

According to a recent report by the Oldham Evening Chronicle, Aerotech Design Consultants - which is based in both Stockport and Middleton - has been partnered with the Grant for Business Investment programme.

The money, which is distributed by the Northwest Regional Development Agency, aims to assist the company in its major contracts, including a three-year deal with Airbus UK in Broughton.

Much of the grant will be used to invest in a laser tracking system to easily facilitate accurate assessment of tolerances.

Commenting on the situation, director at Aerotech David Blackmore told the newspaper: "We are the only independent business in this sector to have this equipment."

Other precision engineering companies have been doing well in the last couple of months, with Mills CNC recently announcing that its income for the first half of the year was £14 million, owing to the popularity of Doosan CNC lathe sales.
