Delft Spline Systems has released a new edition of the DeskProto 3D CAM software: DeskProto Version 4.2. This new edition is a re-release of the proven DeskProto V 4.1, a version still used by many happy clients. DeskProto V 4.2 is meant to offer full 3D functionality, including rotary machining, at a lower price.

Delft Spline Systems has released a new edition of the DeskProto 3D CAM software: DeskProto Version 4.2. This new edition is a re-release of the proven DeskProto V 4.1, a version still used by many happy clients. DeskProto V 4.2 is meant to offer full 3D functionality, including rotary machining, at a lower price. This will allow new clients to start with 3D CAM even in times of crisis In addition the price for DeskProto Lite has been reduced, making 3D CAM affordable for any owner of a CNC milling machine.
For jewelers rotary machining is required as they need to machine rings. This wax model has been machined first from both sides and then in rotary mode

The new Version 4.2 of the DeskProto software contains many advanced options, like:
* Rotation axis machining, vital for jewelers.
* Free formed segments to save time by reducing the area to be machined
* Automatically reduced feedrate at high chip loads
* Two sided machining and even N-sided machining
* Simple 2D machining.

"For clients with a limited budget we had created DeskProto Lite," says Lex Lennings, sales manager for DeskProto, "however, as many of these clients absolutely needed rotation axis machining a third edition of DeskProto was needed. In addition the price for DeskProto Lite has been lowered to € 145.00 only. The three available editions make it possible for any budget to buy a DeskProto license. On the website a comparison table is available to show the differences between these three editions.
The DeskProto CAM software is aimed at designers, not (as most other CAM software) at CAM specialists. Despite it's low-end price DeskProto includes high-end features, like automatic feed rate reduction at high chiploads, collet collision check, full rotation axis support, the Two-sided milling wizard, and much more. Current users range from one person design and models shops to multinational A-brand companies like Unilever, Lancôme, Sony-Ericsson and NASA.
