IBM launches Computer Aided Engineering platform for automotive industry


IBM has launched a comprehensive PLM initiative that creates an open standards-based platform for Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) simulation and analysis targeted specifically for at global Automotive Industry.

The new initiative, called Automotive Engineering Innovation Framework (AEIF), offers a reference architecture, a standard deployment approach and a set of technology solutions for Virtual Product Innovation, the company claims.

The initiative reportedly combines IBM's grid software, deep computing systems, storage technologies, virtual product and process innovation, consulting, IBM PLM software applications and ISV partner applications.

To showcase the new initiative, IBM France has announced the opening of its first Centre of Innovation in Montpellier, France.No financial details have been disclosed.
