ITC aids TC Engineering with CNC tooling
High specification machining centres often have tooling problems which can impact on turnover progress, as one Hampshire-based precision engineering firm discovered.
Director of TC Engineering Derick Copolla explained that when creating parts from aluminium, stainless steel, nylon, plastics and brass, the organisation saw common issues cropping up including reduced tool life, material sticking, excessive burrs and slower cycle times.
However, everything started to turn around following a number of visits from a representative of Industrial Tooling Corporation (ITC), who offered the firm a series of carbide cutters.
Mr Copolla continued: "I was initially sceptical of carbide as in its infancy it was known as a brittle and fragile material with cutters chipping frequently. However, we gave the ITC Cyber Series of carbide tooling a trial and we haven't looked back since."
ITC specialises in round tools and operates a production facility which includes a number of CNC grinding machines from world-leading manufacturers such as Walter, Deckel and Anca, which serve to test and maintain the quality of tools.
