Students finish Johnson College's computer program
Students recently completed the Computer Numerical Control with Machining Management Certificate Training Program offered by Johnson College's Continuing Education Department.
Johnson College's CNC Certificate Training Program is sponsored by the Lackawanna County Workforce Investment Board and provides state approved training. The graduates received funding for this training through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and several obtained job placement before the class's competition.
Johnson College has celebrated the success of CNC Certificate Training graduates for many years. Andrew V. Zwanch, Johnson College's Technical Division chairman and Precision Machining Technology Department chairman, has been teaching CNC courses since 1987.
The college currently offers both a 510-hour CNC Certificate course and a 600-hour CNC with machining management certificate course. Both courses offer conventional training, such as applied mathematics, blueprint reading, and lathe and mill work, and CNC Training, involving Occupational Safety and Health Administration training and machine operation. Each course presents information on resume building and job searching. With the 600-hour course, students also receive training in machining management, which includes scheduling estimates, quality control, production analysis, and more.
