Yamazaki Mazak is to attend at Southern Manufacturing, which takes place at the Five exhibition centre in Farnborough, Hants on the 10-11 February.

On show, representing the company's two- and three-axis turning centre series, is the Quick Turn Smart 200, which will be accompanied by the Vertical Centre Nexus 510C-II vertical machining centre.

The QT Smart series includes four models, with the Quick Turn Smart 200 and 250 offering 350mm machining diameter and the Quick Turn Smart 300 and 350 with 420mm maximum machining diameter and up to 102mm in bar diameter.

Standard features of the range are the high rigidity built-in spindle units, NC tailstock with number 5 Morse taper spindle, 10 or 12 position drum turret and traverse rates of 30 and 33m/min in the X and Z axes.

Central to the development of QT Smart is the Mazatrol Smart control system, which is designed with two-axis turning and three-axis milling in mind.

The operator interface remains as a Windows-based system, with a full Qwerty keyboard, as well as the Mazatrol conversational programming with full EIA/ISO functionality as standard.

The Vertical Centre Nexus 510C-II on display features a 18.5kW (25 hp), 12,000revs/min AC integral motor spindle motor, traverse rates of 36m/min in all axes and a table dimension of 1,300 by 550mm, and forms part of the Vertical Centre Nexus series.

These machines provide improved machining stability, safer operation, and enhanced ease of operation by utilising Yamazaki Mazak's sixth-generation Mazatrol Matrix CNC system.

As with the QT Smart series, ease of use is enhanced by the use of a Qwerty keyboard, large CNC display screen and the choice of Mazatrol conversational or EIA/ISO programming methods.

Users can benefit from the integration of Mazak's Intelligent machine functions such as Intelligent Safety Shield, Mazak Voice Advisor, Intelligent Thermal Shield and Active Vibration Control.
