Mazak to exhibit twin-turret turning centre
Yamazaki Mazak's ongoing attendance at Southern Manufacturing affirms the Worcester-based machine tool builder's belief in the strength of the show's target audience.
At this year's show, held on the 11 and 12 February 2009 at Farnborough's Five exhibition venue, Mazak will be displaying its Hyper Quadrex 150MSY, which represents the latest in twin-turret, twin-spindle, turning centre technology.
Ideally suited to machining parts from bar stock up to 65mm diameter, the bar-fed Hyper Quadrex 150MSY offers simultaneous cutting of two workpieces to reduce cycle times.
The Y-axis movement on both 12-position turrets create numerous machining options, including balanced cutting, upper and lower turrets operating on independent spindles or, the simultaneous machining of one component.
Productivity can be enhanced by the bar feed unit, workpiece transfer between spindles and the automatic workpiece unloader, which transfers the part outside of the working environment.
Hyper Quadrex 150MSY is also capable of 'done-in-one' machining, which reduces the number of machine tools required.
Using the Mazatrol Matrix control offers a positioning accuracy of +/- 0.005mm/100mm in the X and Z axes (0.005mm/50mm for Y) and repeatability of +/-0.001mm in X and Z (0.002mm in Y).
Similarly, the C-axis is accurate to 15 seconds of arc and repeats to +/-5 seconds of arc.
Yamazaki Mazak's Mazatrol Matrix control system simplifies programming and operation of the machine and makes full use of conversational programming to control both upper and lower turrets in both balanced and simultaneous machining applications.
