Leader CNC supplies machining centres to Europe
Leader CNC Technologies has announced that it is installing three new machining centres worth GBP1.6m as part of its strategy to work within Europe and further afield.
Two large Toshiba BP130.R22 horizontal borers are to be installed in France, while a Kitamura HX300iF horizontal machining centre is to be delivered to an aerospace manufacturer in Russia.
The Toshiba BP130.R22 is a horizontal borer with a fixed-column interfacing, with a travelling rotary table capable of handling components up to 10000kg in weight, swinging with a 4600mm-diameter circle and 3m high.
The combination of a 1500mm Z-axis and the 710mm travel of the 130mm diameter quill enables the cutting tool to reach well inside a large component.
The spindle motor develops a maximum torque of 4065Nm, with 3000Nm of torque and the full power of 30kW available from 5-2500rev/min.
The robustness and accuracy of the BP130.R22 is demonstrated by its weight of 46 tonnes while maintaining a positional accuracy of 0.017mm and repeatability of 0.008mm over the complete range of axis travels.
The scope of supply for the two Toshiba borers includes a full turnkey package with prove-out of the customer's parts being completed at the factory prior to commissioning on site.
As the main dealer for Toshiba Machine within central Europe, Leader CNC engineers will work with their locally appointed agents to ensure a satisfactory installation and application prove-out, with ongoing support from Nuneaton on engineering and warranty.
The Kitamura HX300iF set for installation by Leader CNC in Russia is the third to be supplied to a manufacturer of regional jet parts within the aerospace sector.
The first two machines have proved reliable and accurate, according to the company.
The original choice of a Kitamura horizontal machining centre was based on the construction of the machine.
The Kitamura features solid boxways, a 50m/min rapid rate, high-speed and high-torque gearbox driven spindle, with full B-axis rotary table as standard, plus through-spindle coolant and a full drum-type chip management system.
The upgraded Fanuc 16iMB CNC control includes adaptive control, full tool-life management, probing and other functions required for the manufacture of high-accuracy aerospace components.
Full on-site training was given by Leader CNC applications-and-service engineers.
