CNC Retrofits Answer Scarcity Of Manual Machinists

By retrofitting CNCs to three manual Hardinge lathes, Mansfield Screw Machine Products Co. (Lexington, Ohio) increased the throughput on these machines by about 15 percent. That's the estimate of shop floor supervisor Keith Reed, who performed the retrofits, and now writes the machines' NC programs.
