CNC M Codes
M words, commonly called M codes, are major address codes for miscellaneous functions that perform various instructions that do not involve actual tool dimensional movement.

These include spindle on and off, tool changes, coolant on and off, and other similar related functions. Most M-codes have been standardized, but there are a few that have a unique function for a particular controller.
