When Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School in Massachusetts was in the market for a lathe to teach its machine shop students the basics of CNC programming, it bypassed traditional dedicated hardware computer numerical controls. The control they selected uses CNC-PC software from Lighthouse Software (Wells, Maine) and runs on any personal computer using Microsoft Windows.
